Czech and Slovak gomoku students gathered in Brno

A big gomoku event took place in the Czech republic during the last week in Brno. On Friday 16/12 there was a final tournament of a large team school competition Pisqworky among students from Czech republic and Slovakia. More than 6 thousand students took part in total, while 120 of them (gathered in 24 teams) reached this final and competed in 8 round Swiss. 1st place was taken by a team from Beroun led by Matěj “Piggi” Holub (https://pisqworky.cz/turnaje/2026)

The gomoku party followed till Saturday, when an official Czech ranking tournament Brno Cup was organized in 10+3 blitz. 27 players participated including many young prospects from the school competition – who had chance to face some of the best Czech players like Martin Muzika, Pavel Laube or Vladimir Nipoti. No wonder the Czech republic is expected to bring some serious challange also to the first ever Youth World Championship in gomoku which is scheduled for August 2020 in Tallin, Estonia.
