Nakamura vs Kamiya – Meijin-sen Match Final 1st game starts in one week

The 50th Meijinsen Match between Yuuki Oosumi and Shigeru Nakamura in 2013. It was a great match where Nakamura as a challenger lost the first game, drew next two and Oosumi was just one draw away from the Meijin title but then Nakamura being 1-2 down pulled up his sleeves and managed to fight back winning last two games and the whole match 3-2.

The most prestigious Japanese renju event of the year is about to begin. The legendary Shigeru Nakamura has been meijin 28 times (!) which is more than Shunsuke Kamiya’s age (he is 25 now).

Kamiya is in excellent form achieving bronze medal in the WC A-final and winning the Meijinsen tournament but is it enough to really fight for the Meijin title in his ever first Meijin Match? The first game is scheduled at 10am Japanese time on the 26th of October next Saturday. There will be live video broadcast in youtube and renjuportal.com

The match is played until the challenger reaches 3 points or the Meijin reaches 2.5 points.
